Some Works in progress...

Alright, so it's been quite a while since I've updated with anything. So, here! Have some pictures of current projects!Flaraffe! A hand painted sculpture for once. From a character I came up with about 2 years ago.

He'll be sporting a big "Mom" tattoo in the finish...

A grumpy hermit crab, for the cover of a story my mom wrote.

Got a logo now and everything! Spiffy.

Super Sweet!

Happy Valentine's day lovelies! I have a very picture heavy post for you all. My It's a Boy card is completely finished, and I'm very happy with how it turned out. Here are a few pictures of it...

The front

Inside

And here it is standing up (with something living room stuff in the background...)
So there you have it! I think the next card I'm going to try is a birthday card for a young girl. In the meantime, however, I've been sculpting some other things as well. I won't say what for yet, but here are some pictures. This is my first try using colored sculpey instead of regular super sculpey. I'm actually pretty pleased with the results.

We've got a mischievous looking cat, some potted plants, and a pot of flowers that's been knocked over. Hm...

Moving Along

Finished another piece today! (And also started a new one...no pictures of that one just yet though.) Here he is, Mr. Stork completely colored. I'm pretty happy with it, and all that's left is turning this piece in to a greeting card. I'll post pictures of that when it's all done with.
I do have a few more pictures to post though. A few days ago I made a quick sculpture. Here she is:

Flapper lady! Yes...doesn't have any eyes. Yet! Those come in with the Photoshop part.

With a bit of color! I'm still working on her, but here you can see that she does, in fact, have eyes. I took an old photo of myself and used the eyes from that photo and put them on the sculpture. This is a personal project, for once I'm not just posting something from a school assignment :) She needs a name...

It's a boy!

A new picture, as promised! I had my roommate help me take pictures, and here's my favorite of the bunch. This picture is a wee bit modified. I had to edit out the tips of tree branches and the roof of my apartment building. The stork originally had a long sturdy wire coming out of his belly, so he was kind of like a puppet. I built the wire in so I would be able to hold him up to the sky. You can still see the tip of the wire on his belly in this picture.

This illustration is going to be for my grad portfolio class. I'm focusing on doing a series of greeting cards that would be geared towards or about kids. This card, which I'm sure you can probably tell, is going to be a birth announcement card. I'm debating on whether or not I should do two versions. One for girls and one for boys. Any thoughts?

In the Beginning...

Well, as you can see, I've decided to give this blogging thingamajig a try. I've made it through two weeks of school already, and I'm enjoying all my projects.

Not too much to talk about as of yet, so I'll leave you all with a picture.

Our first assignment in Computer Illustration is to design a character from either The Wizard of Oz, Robin Hood, or Alice in Wonderland. Obviously I just The Wizard of Oz, focusing on Toto. I made a quick sculpture of Toto and Dorothy's legs, then baked both. The road is just unbaked sculpey. (Which worked out better than I thought, since it's unbaked it still has a little bit of shine to it.) Took all the pieces outside and took pictures, getting mud all over my jeans. And there you have it! Will post in progress shots at a later date.
